About the event
Our inner city plant haven is the perfect place to relax and be present in the moment. Whether it's the end of a long week (or right in the middle!), making terrariums can be such a grounding experience. You will learn all about terrariums, from the layers used to create them, to the plants that thrive in them. We will guide you through each step in designing and creating your own unique miniature world. And along the way, you will learn about the science behind terrariums and why we call them tiny bioactive ecosystems!
What is a bioactive terrarium? A bioactive terrarium contains more than just plants. We add little insects, called springtails, that help break down and remove waste (decaying leaves and mould) from the terrarium, creating a healthier ecosystem. Neat isn’t it! This is what occurs in nature (but on a much smaller scale!).
The perfect blend of science and creativity. We create an experience like no other. Â
The workshop includes:Â
- All materials to make your own 30 cm high closed terrarium (complete with a glass sphere topper), including mini figurines to add to your scape. (See our 'Gratitude' Terrarium on our shop page for more pictures of what you will create)
 - Care instructions and box to take home your new terrarium.Â
- Lots of fun! Â
No experience needed, just come along, relax and enjoy! This workshop is suitable for ages 12+ (children must be supervised by an adult)
